Our Story

A hearth, a hook,
and a hand-built menu.

Ember & Oak began in 2016 as a four-table coffee bar with one stubborn belief — that everything tastes better over live fire. Ten years later, the oak-burning hearth still anchors the room, and our bakers still start at four each morning.

We mill our own flour, ferment our sourdough for 36 hours, and pour beans roasted by our neighbours at Tidewater Roasters. Nothing here is rushed — not the brisket, not the cold brew, not you.

The Oak Hearth

A 900°F oak-burning oven imported from Naples. Flatbreads, blistered vegetables and whole fish — all kissed by live flame.

The Coffee Bar

Twelve single-origin lots, rotated monthly. Espresso pulled on a La Marzocco Strada, pour-over brewed to the gram.

The Bakehouse

Butter laminated each dawn. Croissants, cardamom knots and a Basque cheesecake that sells out by two most afternoons.

Ember Hours

From five o'clock the lights fall low. Amaro, natural wine and small plates until eleven — Fridays and Saturdays until midnight.
